Weekend? What Weekend?

Well, sometimes you gotta suck it up I guess. I worked at a conference all weekend. From 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Friday, from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm on Saturday and from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm on Sunday. It was a long weekend as a result. Yesterday, I went to my aunt's house after...chilled out there and took a 2 hour nap. Got home later in the evening. Cleaned up. Did laundry. Had dinner. Then, I decided to watch a movie.

I watched Bad Boys 2. What a bad movie. It was so cliche. The token bad Hispanic guy, the Russian mobster. There were so many scenes that didn't make sense. Too many characters. Dumb story. Too many unneeded profanities. It just wasn't a good story. You might say...well, it was an action movie so it didn't really need a story. I will counter with - "well, it had no story AND it was a $hitty action movie. Just dumb car scenes, shooting scenes. And, the banter b/w Martin Laurence and Will Smith was getting a little annoying by about the 5th minute. Overall, I didn't like it at all.

This week is gonna be crazy busy, as was last week, as will be the next month or two. That's just the way life is when you have a job that goes in peaks and valleys. It's very customer driven and right now is a peak customer time. Being busy is good but damn, it's tiring.

Valentines Day was night. I had dinner at Sagano with NS. It's a nice Japanese restaurant on top of the Delta hotel in Scarborough. In my 25 years of living in this city, I've never scene Scarborough from that vantage point. High up overlooking the 401 and spawling suburbs. It was quite amusing actually. They had some nice dishes. Asparagus maki wrapped in thinly slicked beef, Shitake mushrooms stuffed with shrimp, Braised eggplant which was very tasty.

Gotta get going now...Have a good day folks.

finally a way to get back at the corporate giant

i thought this was kinda funny...Tchao/Smith and I could have used this in 4A and 4B as our wallpaper of F.U. letters was getting quite large.

Dear Mr/Ms_______,

Thank you for your letter of February 3. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me a Summer position in your Division. This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals. Despite your company's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at this time. Therefore, I will assume the position in your department this June.

I look forward to seeing you then.
Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Interviewee

Chilling on a Tuesday Night
I was away for bidness for the last couple of days and thought that I had some stuff to blog about. Now that I'm sitting in front of my computer ready to type...I've got nothing. This is a useless post. I apologize.

That was a fast 4 weeks...
Well folks, I am no longer a bachelor. The 'rents are home. I picked them up at the airport today at 4:00 pm. And now, it's back to normal life. We were having dinner together and it really felt like they hadn't even left. 4 weeks flew by and just like that, they were back. In their eyes - it was quite long - they were in Dubai for a few days, then India for 3.5 weeks where they traveled around just about every day visiting different relatives and cities. Then the last 3 days in London with my brother. Overall very hectic for them. It's really nice to have them home though. Being in an empty house just ain't that enjoyable. Especially coming home to a dark, empty house at the end of the day.

I went skating at Nathan Phillips Square yesterday for the first time in like 10 years. I went with Etch, Bird and Cdawg. We had a really fun time. I wasn't actually as bad as I thought I would be. I guess it's the rollarblading that I've been doing. Skating is so smooth and enjoyable. Especially on finely zambonied ice. After, we went to Tiger Lilly's for dinner and NS joined us. It was a fun dinner with good conversation and stories as usual. Following dinner, we proceeded to Ian's surprise birthday party at the Courthouse. That was a gathering of old L'Am high school posse and we had a great time. The age range of the guests in the establishment was from 20 - 50. It was hilarious. There were some pregnant women too. Everyone was partying so it was awesome. The best however was when we saw Eric's dad at the club. Well - it wasn't quite his dad...but damn, he was close. Billy Jean (by Michael Jackson) came on and Mr. Tchao (I mean, mystery man X) starting tearing up the dance floor. He busted out The Running Man, some crazy leg kicks (Russian style) and generally just the whole works. It was amazing to watch him - we were all quite mesmorized actually. That definitely made my evening. I must make one comment though...the music absolutely SUCKED. There was no flow to it. The DJ's (including the previously popular Tarzan Dan) were horrible. They didn't know how to mix or scratch. It was all about volume fades in and out. Clicking on "Next" on the CD Player and mixing sets of Madonna, Kool and the Gang, ABBA and Justin Timberlake. Just too much.

I spent the afternoon today with my niece. After lunch, I took her to Edward's Gardens to walk around the park. We were hanging out with about 50 ducks for quite some time. They were all quacking around looking for food. We tried to feed them some seeds we found on the ground but they weren't really buying it. I think they were waiting for the money load - some happy meals or something. After we were cold and we went to Second Cup for some hot chocolate. The whole afternoon - I think passers-by and observers probably thought she was my daughter. Cause I had her up on my shoulders and I was holding her hand most of the time. It was a lot of fun to hang out with her but definitely quite draining - both mentally and physically (moreso cause you are totally responsible for her and just gotta make sure she's safe, etc).

She's such a great kid...I can't wait to see her again!

What a Game!
The Battle of Ontario was quite exciting this evening. Senators pulled out to a 4-0 lead about 3 minutes into the 2nd period. The Leafs got a second win (corresponding with the Senators dropping like flies to the flu-bug) and with 5 minutes left in the 3rd period, they tied it up. They then proceeded to win in Overtime on a bullet slap shot by Nolan. Kaberle and McCabe were super tonight. It was great to see them play with such finesse.

I must get to bed and dream about this exciting game...
Hopefully the Raptors can do their thing tomorrow night versus the Pacers.

My parents are back on Sunday - can you believe it's been a month???

Busy, Busy, Busy
Not sure where to begin but I am tired and can't really stay up too late tonight. Basically after that drive thru blog of last week - I was in training for work all day Wednesday - Friday AND Saturday till 1:00 pm. So, the last few days were quite busy with that.

Saturday - the rest of the day was spent in Sauga. NS and I chilled with Kris and Rayna. We did some shopping then had some awesome West Indian home cooking on Saturday night. We then watched 28 Days Later, which was quite possibly one of the WORST movies I've seen in quite some time. I won't even get into what I didn't like about it. There were just so many parts that really pissed me off and some of the concepts (especially everything with the soldiers) were quite disturbing.

Superbowl Sunday was fun. Went to my buddy Aneil's place for a party. He had this fun game where you had to pick something out of a hat like "Quarterback Sack" or "Touchdown" or "Time-Out" or "Referee Signals First Down", etc. I had the last one and let me tell you. That happens quite damn often. Each time your "event" happened - you had to take a shot. Needless to say...by half time I was feeling pretty happy and I was hoping for no first downs in the second half. I must say that the halftime show sucked. P. Diddy was garbage. As was Nelly. Janet looked like Michael (other than when she decided to show her bre@$t). Kid Rock was stinky too. Why is everyone making such a big deal about the Janet thing? Look at all the rap videos and rock videos you see on MTV all day long. There are less than half naked women shaking their assets everywhere. There is violence. Songs about guns, drugs, etc. One little breast (with most of it covered) for about 2 seconds and everyone goes crazy. Look at some of the Superbowl commercials and there is more contoversy. Or how about the Lingerie Superbowl that occured on PPV during half time. Now - that is something to get all
p-oed about. In the end - it was planned. JT and Janet knew exactly what they were doing.

Tonight I played ball and had a bittersweet game. I missed some EASY shots (including a breakaway layup) so I was CRAP. I also defended the best player on the other team for a game and a half and outscored him 5 - 2 which was great cause he normally scores between 10-15 points. My offense is much better (from crap...you can only go up) when I play good D.

Last thing before I go to bed. Guess who's making noise tonight? And better yet - guess what he's doing? He's installing a damn satellite dish. Yes he is. What time is it? it's 11:11 pm. I can hear drilling. WHAT THE $*#@ IS THAT ABOUT? I can't win with this stupid idiot.
